Nagios Upgrade

Post by durgaraoyv »

Hi

Nagios Upgrade - From 5.5 to latest available.
NRPE 3.x Agents were configured on many hosts.
Are these compatible with latest version?
Any pre-requisite steps to be checked ?

VM based Nagios installation. Can this be upgraded offline ?

Thank you.

Hi,

That's correct, the latest version would be compatible with NRPE 3.x Agents.

Overall the upgrade process is simple, as the scripts will do all the heavy lifting. However, is this an offline install or standard? Does the server have access to the internet?

Regards,
Benjamin

Benjamin, Thank you for replying.
Server doesn't have internet access.

Please see the highlighted part in the attachment. Install falls into both of the categories.
What necessary precautions you suggest to do before offline upgrade ?

Hi,

The procedure for an offline upgrade is similar to the procedure for offline install, please review the instructions in the link below.

Before proceeding you'll want to take a full backup or snapshot and verify that the server has access to the local repositories in your offline environment.

I would also review the database log to make sure there are no issues with corrupt tables before proceeding. If you'd like I can review the system profile before proceeding, please send it to me in a private message.

Installing Nagios XI In An Offline Environment

To send us your system profile.

Login to the Nagios XI GUI using a web browser.
Click the "Admin" > "System Profile" Menu
Click the "Download Profile" button

Hi

Upgrade completed successfully after RHEL repo was configured.
There was no necessity for offline upgrade.
Thank you for step-by-step details provided.

Thank you.
