I'm sorry to hear you are having installation issues with installing NRPE.

I would recommend installing the latest version from https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ent.tar.gz.

If you are still having issues, feel free to reach out!

I think newer nrpe installs set nrpe as a service rather than running under xinetd. That said, has the OP thought to read the error messages, check if xinettd is isn installed and maybe setting it up?
