Our NagiosXI instance interface is not updating and still displays an older version (5.8.5) although 5.11.1 is installed and otherwise functional. We had a very similar or the same problem previously but I can no longer access our tickets.

Hello @smblair, There are a few ways to update Nagios XI.
The first way to update is in the Admin page>System Information>Check for Updates. You can check for updates and update here.
(I am guessing this didn't work)
The second way is updating it manually, Here is an article that can help install it manually.

Make sure to restart the machine and double check that everything updated.

I apologize for not being clear.
The "update" referenced is host information and other information updates, not system upgrades. Nagios Core is updating, so it is an interface problem, which we have previously experienced with this instance.
