How to change credentials used to monitor host

Post by mcdonamw »

I inherited Nagios so I'm quite unfamiliar with it. I am currently monitoring an ESXi host that I need to change the password on but I cannot find anywhere within the Nagios XI UI to set any sort of credentials.

How do I do this? I've searched all over the web and can only find information on how to change the Nagios password itself.

TIA

Hello @mcdonamw,

What password are you trying to change? If you're trying to change the credentials used by your Nagios XI server to monitor the ESXi server, there are two primary ways to do this:
  • Rerun the wizard for the ESXi server. This should overwrite the current configuration with your new one.
  • Manually change your configuration. The file containing your credentials should be in /usr/local/nagiosxi/etc/components/vmware/[hostname]_auth.txt
