'default' free variable _xiwizard

I recently noticed on the 'Misc Settings' tab of about half my host configuration pages a free variable called '_xiwizard' which is set to 'genericnetdevice'. I have been unable to find where this might be referenced and wonder if I can remove that variable without consequence? Or how do I find out where it might be getting used?

To my knowledge it's not actually used anywhere other than as a note to reference how the host was created.
