Monitor NAS/SAN Storage using Nagios Core

Post by nishith »

Hello Experts,

I am using "Nagios Core" since 4 years & happy to have it.

Now, As per the extended Data Center plan, I would like to monitor below services using "Nagios Core".

1) Monitor NAS/SAN Storage, which doesn't contain any type of OS. Main tasks include,
* To monitor "temperature" of NAS/SAN Storage.
* To monitor total available LUNs (Logical Unit Numbers) of NAS/SAN Storage.
* To monitor all configured RAID arrays of NAS/SAN Storage.
* Total used & available space of NAS/SAN Storage.

2) Monitor "failure of single "physical memory module". For Example, IBM Power Server is having total 32 GB of Physical RAM. Mean 8 GB RAM Module x 4 physical memory slots.

Means, If 3rd physical memory module crash, Server will work as it is, but "Nagios Server" should generate alert.

Is it possible to justify both above critical tasks?

If anyone is having solution, kindly share it with me. Also it would be great if someone can communicate over the mail.

My mail id is: [email protected]

Advanced Thanks,
Nishith N.Vyas
