Inquiry

Post by riredondo »

Hi Support Team,

Provided we proceed with an agentless setup, how much load (CPU, network bandwidth, etc.) would it need from the nodes and network? This will of course be influenced by how much information we want to extract but let’s look at the basics (node uptime, average CPU / memory load, HDD storage, network connectivity uptime), how much weight would it be for our node to generate this info using Nagios XI?

Hope to hear from you soon.

What Operating system's are you looking to monitor, what type of information would you like to send and receive?

hi... i think i am not able to explain my concern well.. im sorry.

my question is not about how to monitor windows. What i would like to know is how much of the cpu load (on the xi and the host), network bandwidth and other resources would it eat up when nagios starts to send active checks to monitor basic services such as ping, cpu load, HDD partition, swap, and memory.

how much is the foot print of the checks on the xi server side, the host side and to the network bandwidth

This is going to totally depend on the type of systems you have, how many checks you are running, frequency of checks, etc.

As far as network traffic, each check is generally negligible however the quantity of checks could add up if you are averaging thousands of checks /min.

The load on the target machines in an agentless setup is minimal since basic checks only take a couple ms of processing time each and they are usually only run every 5 minutes.
