SNMP over SSH

I am evaluating Nagios XI and would like some information. We would like to monitor remote machines using SNMP but use SSH to connect to the remote server not snmp over the network. Essentially we want SNMP to be run locally on the remote server and retrieve the info over SSH.

I am running Nagios XI on the vmware image.
