Windows check_mk questions

Post by nunezric »

We’re currently deploying different Nagios XI 2011R3.3 servers in our company, it was manually installed redhat-release-5Server-5.8.0.3.

We’re trying to manage Windows devices via the check_mk agent at this moment.

My “guinea pig” managed computer is a Windows XP SP3 computer. It has installed check_mk version 1.2.0p2 and the “wmichecks.bat ” plugin mentioned at http://mathias-kettner.de/checkmk_windows.html.

With the attachment limitations, I tried to copy/paste most of the information at the end of this post.

You see the actual Nagios XI web interface in the attachment “NagiosXIWarning.png”,

You can see in “check_mk –d mtlcrappalaches.pmc-sierra.internal” output that we’re getting the results of the “wmichecks.bat” file in the “<<<wmic_process:sep(44)>>>” section.

These are the outputs of the following commands:

[root@mtlems02 check_mk]# check_mk -II
df 1 new checks
logwatch 4 new checks
mem.win 1 new checks
mrpe 1 new checks
systemtime 1 new checks
uptime 1 new checks
winperf_phydisk 1 new checks
winperf_processor.util 1 new checks
[root@mtlems02 check_mk]# check_mk -O
Generating Nagios configuration...OK
Validating Nagios configuration...OK
Precompiling host checks...OK
Reloading Nagios...OK
[root@mtlems02 check_mk]#

Questions:

1) Why is “<<<wmic_process:sep(44)>>>” not shown in the nagios XI web interface?
2) Why do I have “(No output returned from plugin)” in the “wmichecks” service of the Nagios XI web interface?
3) How does Nagios XI conclude that “System Time” offset is -375.7 sec? How does it compare to? Nagios server itself?
4) I have some interesting information in the “check_mk-d.mtlcrappalaches.pmc-sierra.internal.txt” output that does not get reflected in the web interface:
4.1) How do I show the running services in Nagios XI?
4.2) Does <<<winperf_phydisk>>> include information about “Avg. DiskQueueLength” of the Physical Disks?
4.3) Where is an explanations line by line of “<<<winperf_phydisk>>>” section? How can I show that information in Nagios XI?

Thank you,

Ricardo

Re: Windows check_mk questions

Post by slansing »

The majority of these questions would be better answered by the creator of Check_MK. It is was not created by Naigos Enterprises. However, could you expand on what you meant by how do you list the running services in Nagios XI?

You can close this ticket. I'm using check_mk mailing list.

About the services, this was documented in the check_mk web site.

Thank you,
