Weird DNS issue

Post by shanson »

we've recently made a change to our domain name and Nagios is now throwing a SERVICE NOTIFICAION error..

[1723601080] SERVICE NOTIFICATION: shane;www.opmetrix.com;DNS-Name Servers;UNKNOWN;notify-service-by-email;invalid expected result '199.60.103.140' for CNAME/MX/NS/PTR record, should be an fqdn

to me this reads it's trying to send an email and failing, however a look at the MX record shows it's ok AND I get emails using notify-service-by-email and DNS looks and works ok.

Any one have any thoughts on where I might look?

TIA

Hello @shanson,

Just to verify, is that notification from nagios.log?

Are you saying that you are receiving emails, but also receiving that error or that notify-service-by-email sometimes works and sometimes gives that error?
