NagiosXI2024R1.2.1 | Host Check Command not a required field?

I've noticed within CCM that the host check-command can be left blank when deploying hosts. Is the check command not a required field for hosts?

Template does inherit generic-host which is also blank.

It seems that the check command field is not required for hosts. One use case of this would be if you did not care about the general status of the host but only wanted to monitor the data from a service check on that host.
