Hardening Ubuntu Pro 22.04 with CIS LVL 1 Server

Post by arthurkroth »

Hi Everyone.

I just moved my Nagios XI 5.11.1 server from CentOS 7.9.2009(EOL) to Ubuntu 22.04, and now I'm working on hardening it before upgrading my Nagios to the latest version.

Have you had any bad experiences using the Ubuntu Pro USG(Ubuntu Security Guide) tool to apply the CIS Level 1 benchmark for servers? If so, did it break anything related to Nagios? I agree that things are different in every environment, and hardening needs to be done slowly; I'm here to get an overall experience from you.

Thanks for your time :)

Hey Arthur thanks for reaching out.

I haven't tried this myself and doing a search I haven't found any information on people trying this. I'll look into it more and see if I can find anything but if you want to give it a shot and see if it breaks things feel free to update us with your findings. Just make sure to take snapshots along the way with working versions.
