How to limit a read-only access user to a specific host group

Post by montr3245 »

Hello - is it possible to configure a read-only user access to only view a specific host group or host? I noticed that the read-only permission seems to grant read access, for the read-only user, to all of the host groups. In comparison, a user granted the "Can configure hosts and services" permission can only view those hosts/services that they are a contact for. Thanks!

Hi @montr3245,

You should be able to accomplish this by assigning the user's contact to every host in the desired hostgroup. This can be done via the bulk modifications tool (CCM -> Tools -> Bulk Modifications Tool) by selecting Add Contact and Select Hosts using Host Groups). Your user should then be made read-only and should only be able to see the hosts for which it is a contact (namely those in the desired hostgroup).

Let us know if this works for you.

Thank you!
