Monitoring Dell Networker backups in Nagios

is anyone monitoring the backup status of Dell Networker backups? I would like to have Nagios alert certain individuals rather than the networker in app notification of an email for failures. Looks like maybe you could use NRPE for it. I don't want to go down the snmp route. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do the backups log anything to a file? If so the many log file plugins may work.
