Any way to clear host settings?

Post by jbennett »

I'm wondering if there's any way to easily clear check and alert settings on hosts and services?

A number of my hosts and services have these fields set AND have a template applied to them.

I'm under the impression that if these fields are set in the host/service, then that setting will over ride the template, correct?

In order to verify that my checks are what I think they are, I would like to know if there's an easy way to do this without having to go to each individual item.

In the 2012 version you can make modifications in bulk at
Configure -> CCM -> Tools -> Bulk Modifications -> Change a single config option

I'm guessing this is in the CCM Beta?

Also, is there a difference between leaving the field blank and saving it and setting the field to 0 and saving it?

Will a blank field overwrite anything in the fields?

Yes there is a difference between blank and 0

blank will use any values set in underlying templates, whereas 0 will set the host/service level to 0 and will use that instead of what is in underlying templates

It appears that even leaving it as blank for the bulk modification, it will put a 0 in. I'm not sure if there's a newer version of the CCM beta? I'm on .3 currently.

This is a known bug in earlier versions of the beta, but is fixed in the 2012 release.
