SNMP traps on Nagios Core

I am currently running Nagios Core 3.2.1 and am getting mixed feed back on whether it is possible to receive SNMP traps. Can I get some clarification on this? Thanks in advance.

It's possible, but it can be difficult to set up and you will need a separate component that works together with Nagios. I would recommend NSTI.
