Post by wiproltdwiv »

Hi,

I am using NagiosXI 2011 R3.2. I have assign customized check, notification period and polling interval, but it is not workign as per time. Also it is checking and sending notification only between morning 10 to evening 6. Please check and do the needful.

What does the "host_notification_period" and "service_notification_period" directive say for the contact/contactgroup that you are trying to notify?

Check the contact/contactgroup settings.

Is it not making service checks or not sending notifications before and after 10am and 6pm respectively?

Hi Wipro,

Looking at the config, you have notifications disabled, it could be you are overriding the notification switch using a template. The notifications are dependent on the notification handler by default nagios xi uses xi_host_notification_handler and xi_service_notification_handler . The values for the notification should be set using the xi gui not from core . You can click on the user logged in on the top right hand corner and then click on the notification preferences . The times you set their are whats going to be used by default. Unless you change the notification handlers.

Hope that helps

Arnab is correct, the User has control through their notification preferences, and if they set then from 10-6 notifications will only be sent during those hours.

hi,

our configuration part is fine.. we tried the notification preference as 00:00 to 24:00 and also we tried 00:00 to 23:59 for the day.. we enabled host notification and service notifications.. we corrected time periods , contacts. but still nagios failed to monitoring devices ..

it stopped monitoring after 7.00 PM everyday.. we are not sure with timings . because some days. its monitoring the device till 9 pm . some times till 7 pm.

In same way. by morning after 9.00 am only we start getting alerts in nagios... please suggest.. need your help ASAP to resolve this issue

Do you have specific hours specified for the user associated with this service in the users "Notification Preferences"?
