account to control monitoring engine

Post by nveeder »

Nagios XI 2012R1.5
Can I give an account access to start or restart the monitoring engine or grapher through the interface without setting their Authorization Level to "Admin"?
When the Authorization Level for an account is set to "User", the "Can see/control monitoring engine" check box does not seem to do anything. When this user tries to see the Core Component Status dashlet a message is displayed "Your are not authorized to access this feature..."

The "Can see/control monitoring engine" option gives you an option to shutdown or restart the monitoring engine.
The user can see and control (e.g. shutdown or restart) the monitoring engine. Not recommended unless the user is advanced and should be allowed
Please, read the following document:

http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... Rights.pdf

Your user should be able to log in, go to Monitoring Process->Process Info
and click on "Stop" or "Restart" action button.
