check_snmp issues

Post by BanditBBS »

Ok, I I have 2 servers on the same side of the corporate firewall. One has the IP of 10.x.x.x and the other has 10.y.y.y. They are in different subnets, but I verified with our network team that there should be no difference network wise in regards to those two subnets. However, if I do an snmptget from 10.x.x.x to a 10.z.z.z system, I get results back. If I do an snmpget from the 10.y.y.y system to the same 10.z.z.z system I get "SNMP problem - No data received from host"

The 10.x.x.x server is physical and the 10.y.y.y server is virtual is the only difference between the two systems. I have verified iptables firewall is not running on either system The 10.z.z.z system has both IPs in it as allowed snmp sources.

Can anyone think of anything else?

Any transparent firewall between Y subnet and Z subnet? I know in the past, network teams that I work with have said there are no issues or differences, and managed to overlook something. Other thoughts, can you ping it? Does Y have routes on the host to Z network?

Issue resolved. My wonderful, overworked linux admin(can you tell he has an account on these forums) must have been busy and forgot to install snmp on that server. snmp is now installed and everything is good.
