Vulnerabilities on Python 3.13.5 used by NCPA 3.2.0
Hi Folks, Microsoft Defender is flagging all our servers that have NCPA 3.2.0 installed as vulnerable to a couple of CVEs discovered on Python 3.15.5. I had a look on the changelog of 3.2.1 and it only mention about bug fixes - Nothing in relation to security. I just need to confirm if there is any ...

Re: Nagios Backups consuming a lot of disk space.
Hi @jsimon, I believe I have found the "issue". Looking at the scheduledbackups.log I can see the following lines: Backing up nagios user home dir... tar: Removing leading `/' from member names tar: /home/nagios/xi-backup-1738745111-ec175faa72110f36c4f5/home-nagios.tar.gz: file changed as ...

Re: Nagios Backups consuming a lot of disk space.
Quick update: The error over the weekend(last Sunday) was that the backup failed because the disk reached 100% and the server restarted. When checking the logs, this is what I get: mysqldump: Got error: 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when using LOCK TABLES Error backing up MySQL ...

Nagios Backups consuming a lot of disk space.
Hi all, I hope you are doing well. We use Nagios XI 2024R1.3.3 to monitor 71 hosts and 850+ services across all hosts. Recently, we migrated our NagiosXI server from EOL CentOS to Ubuntu 22.04. Everything is working great, and I have no issues with the monitoring. On CentOS, we only had the SSH back...

Re: Discrepancy between alerts and Error when connecting to API.
Hi Folks, I wanted to provide an update regarding the issues I was facing. It turns out that both problems were related. Most of the servers I monitored were running NCPA version 2.4.0, which is six versions behind the latest release, version 3.1.1. After updating NCPA on all my servers, I noticed a...

Discrepancy between alerts and Error when connecting to API.
Hi all, I have recently Migrated my Nagios XI server from CentOS 7.9(EOL) to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS; everything has been working smoothly so far. I have kept both servers running side by side. My CentOS is running Nagios XI 5.11.1, and my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is running Nagios XI 2024R1.3. I have noticed that...

Hardening Ubuntu Pro 22.04 with CIS LVL 1 Server
Hi Everyone. I just moved my Nagios XI 5.11.1 server from CentOS 7.9.2009(EOL) to Ubuntu 22.04, and now I'm working on hardening it before upgrading my Nagios to the latest version. Have you had any bad experiences using the Ubuntu Pro USG(Ubuntu Security Guide) tool to apply the CIS Level 1 benchma...
