Re: General questions: load balancing, restoring and securit
Thank you guys for your immediate responses. When I say primary, I mean the instance whose IP is used in the rsyslog or nxlog config. As I understood, all instances have the same role in cluster. There is no instance that is the "brain" of the cluster. How and where can you avoid "spl...

General questions: load balancing, restoring and security
I have a few questions to close the evaluation of NLS. 1. In a cluster of e.g. 4 instances (without having a load balancer) the rsyslog configuration of the source servers points to the IP and port of the primary instance. If this server is offline, how are the logs redirected to the other instances...

Re: User access control
I just want to be sure that nobody without a user account in NLS can access differently the DB. For example is it possible to access the DB from the CLI of the server where NLS is installed as root?

User access control
Hi ,
access to NLS is protected by username and password. Is it possible to connect directly to the Elasticsearch DB somehow, without any authentication? Is it protected and how?
Thank you in advance.

Installation of Elasticsearch plugin "Shield"?
I am looking for the optimal solution for granting access to certain users to certain log data and I ran into the Elasticsearch plugin "Shield". Is it possible to install this into an NLS and use it? If not, can I install it in a separate ELK stack server and then "connect" someh...

Export to MS SQL server?
Is it possible to export using a logstash output some logs, in my case F5 load balancers logs, to MS SQL servers? I checked the plugin output: logstash-output-jdbc which has to be installed.
In general is it possible to install some plugins and use them from the GUI of Nagios or from the CLI?

Re: Backup snapshots disappeared
I am using a CIFS share with NFS access. With mount point do you mean the "location" in the backup configuration? In that case it is: /net/logs.../.../... The snapshots disappeared from both instances from the same cluster. Regarding the bet, you would lose it, because the backup reappeare...

Re: Backup snapshots disappeared
I may have found the reason of the "disappearance" of the snapshots from my first server in the cluster. This cluster consists of 2 servers in LAN. After this, I installed another Nagios log server in DMZi. I have assigned to the server in DMZi the same backup repository as this one for th...

Re: Extract a query to another NLS instance
Thank you for your feedback. I will try to work myself on this solution. Instead of this solution, is it possible to copy the indexes and the snapshots we are interested in another NLS (quests' server) and then make them visible to this server web interface? If yes, can we then delete the parts we w...

Backup snapshots disappeared
I have a 2 instances cluster. I stopped and restarted elasticsearch service from the CLI of the 1st server and since then I cannot see my backup snapshots in "Backup & Maintenance". I reset all jobs from the "Command Subsystem", but nothing. In no instance they are visible. I...
