Technical Skill Required to Develop Customized Nagios Core

we are using Nagios core in our organisation and I would like to customise the NAgios core based on our organisation needs.

Can you please let us know what kind of skills is required likePHP/RDBMS/ Shell Scripting / C/ C++.

The main engine is written in C, with newer versions having a PHP frontend.

That's really all you should need language-wise (I am lumping HTML/CSS/JS into the PHP category).
