linux-nrpe-agent installation

Post by ranjitw »

Hi,

We are installing linux-nrpe-agent on the linux agent servers . As a good practise we are planning to create a filesystem for agent like /products/nagios .

We would want to know what would be the idle space which need to be allocated for the agent ? Will 1 GB work?

Please provide your inputs on the best practise for agent installation directory.

The NRPE binary on my system is 142K in size. On a full XI install with default plugins, my plugins directory is only 9.1M in size. On a NRPE install you are likely to not have the same plugins that XI installs by default so that number may be lower. Given this information, I would say 1G for just the NRPE and related binaries should be just fine, but that is not including log files which obviously I can't estimate how big those will be.

As I mentioned in my last post, 1GB should be fine for the NRPE binary and plugins. I have no way of knowing how big or how fast any of your log files will grow, so I can't speak to that, but for just the binaries 1GB looks like it will be plenty.
