Is it possible to install python 2.6.6 on a *different* box and attempt to test it out from there? The fact that the plugin isn't running properly on your command line heavily indicates that python is to blame, coupled with my discovery that the plugin won't run on the particular version of python you're using. You should simply be able to copy the check_nna_python plugin over to a different server and attempt the check from there.
