Never plays up means that every time I am editing a service or host and click the group membership icon, the box appears so I can move members left / right.
When it plays up on the other machine the boxes are always displayed at the bottom of the screen like in the screenshot in the previous post.
Yes, I have an RDP session to my 2003 server and I am using IE from within that.
I'll try some of the things you've mentioned to see if that sheds any light.

Re: IE problems when changing Group Membership
Sorry but I still don't think I under stand. Though I think I could make a few glossary entries like so:
Plays up:
This is when a floating dialog is created as a picture in picture, instead of inline with the rest of the content.
Never plays up:
This is where a new window or dialog consistently fails to disconnect or disassociation from it's would be background content.
How does that sound?

Screenshots to the rescue.
Good to hear from Martin that this will be fixed in 3.1
Is he talking about NagiosQL?
Do they have a release ETA for this?

Re: IE problems when changing Group Membership
I can tell you this, I would not expect this to be part of XI1.2.

Re: IE problems when changing Group Membership
My question was not about XI1.2.
I asked:
Is he talking about NagiosQL?
Do they have a release ETA for this?

Re: IE problems when changing Group Membership
He is and regardless of when they make a release it's not likely to make it into 1.2.
I'm refraining to comment on self-upgraded NagiosQL, it's not something I could speculate on. However this sounds like upgrading a library/javascript that NagiosQL uses. That being the case this javascript surly could be upgraded and it's likely already released or available in cvs/svn/git.

Re: IE problems when changing Group Membership
This problem seems to be 99% fixed.
I have been doing a fair bit of work in Core Configuration Manager today adding hosts and changing group memberships etc.
The problem only occurred twice during the tasks (would have used the group membership boxes about 70 times).
Using IE 8.0.7600.16385 on Nagios XI R1.3G on VMware ESXi VM.

Re: IE problems when changing Group Membership
Most excellent! Thanks for the update and time spent with CCM
Re: IE problems when changing Group Membership
We're currently working on doing our own front-end for the CCM at the moment. We may see if we can pull you in on some testing when we get it farther along. We're trying to move a lot of the features of the CCM to jquery instead of the yahoo "yui" that's currently used. It *should* have better cross-browser compatibility, or at least that's the goal! ; )
