Error in VMWare conversion

Post by Markq »

I'm having an installation problem with Nagios XI VMware version.

This is what I have done so far:

1) I have downloaded the
VMWare EXSi
ESXi 5.0 Installable (CD ISO)/
08/24/11  |  5.0.0  |  291 MB  |  Binary (.iso) /

and successfully installed it on an Intel i3 PC.

2) Then I have downloaded the
NagiosXI VMware Virtual Machine
http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... vmware.zip
612 MB
*2011R2.1*
February 13, 2012

3) And finally I downloaded and installed
VMware vCenter Converter Standalone
https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=converter/

But when I try to convert the virtual machine and define the ESXi PC
as the destination, a "generic system fault error"  appears.

I believe, a similar case has been introduced here:

Has anyone else experienced problems with the conversion and do you have any ideas for fixing this problem?

Thanks in Advance,
Mark

I've seen this issue before. It seems like vmware standalone converter 4.3 worked fine fine but 5.0 fails with a "generic system fault error". Not sure how to fix it but some people claim that they fixed the issue by opening port 902 to ESX hosts. See this article:
