Unable to Make Configuration Change for Nagios XI

Post by pawara3 »

Dear Nagios Team,
We are running on Nagios XI 2014R2.3, License is valid till 13th Sep 2018. Currently we are facing issues with Nagios Configurations, unable to modify or make any new configuration for our system. Will you please help us to troubleshoot issue.

Another problem is we unable to create two FTP Server or SFPT Server monitoring service for same host which will monitor traffic on different host. e.g. We want to configure two FTP Server configuration on Host XYZ which will monitor traffic on port 10021 or 90021. When we are trying to do so, it's overriding existing configurations.

Do we still have support for this Product version? Does Newer Version will mitigate this issues?

Hello, @pawara3. I was not able to look up your license key using the forum username. Can you PM me the last 4 digits of the license key and the email that was originally used to register it? You do have a forum support no matter what, but I'm going to find out whether you still have an active maintenance contract with us.
As far as your problem goes, please run the following command and show us the output:

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg

A lot has changed since the version 2014R2.3, take a look this changelog here:
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... NGES-5.TXT Also, take a look at this online demo: http://nagiosxi.demos.nagios.com/nagios ... 1519932058

I think your version is too old to upgrade automatically. The easiest way to upgrade in your case is to spin up a clean OS and install the latest version of XI: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... -Linux.pdf And then import the old host and service check definitions using the Config Import Tool in Core Configurations Manager.

With that said, we could still continue troubleshooting your current configuration problem. Did you run the command from my previous post?

Thank your for quick response, presently I don't have access Nagios Host backend where I can login and run mentioned command. Working with Admin to get desired access.
Another thing, I tried to register my account over https://support.nagios.com/add-contact/ but unable to register. May I know what will be account Number should I use while registering it. Even its not accepting License last 6 -digits. Is there any way work around or you can do something from backend to address it.

Error Message - "Not a valid account name and product license key. Product license key must be part of the account."

You would need one the account admins to get you the account number.

Additionally you should also bring it to the admins attention that your version of XI is so far behind the current version, they should be able to work to get that current, if for no other reason than all of the security updates that have happened.
