Custom API Endpoint on RHEL 7.2 is not active

Custom Endpoint is not found.

Nagios XI is installed on a VM running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.2 (Maipo).
This VM is 64bit.
Installation is Manual.
No Gnome, No proxy, No SSL.
Created a custom api endpoint following instructions on page Custom API Endpoint in folder /usr/local/nagiosxi/html/includes/components/xxx.

when I invoke this endpoint using curl, i get an error
No Endpoint: <name of endpoint>

Can you share the code you created? Also, can you confirm the directory structure where component is placed in
/usr/local/nagiosxi/html/includes/components/xxx
is your custom endpoint in the file named xxx.inc.php ?
