Nagios XI Import Config Files

Post by elealyngarcia »

Hi

We are currently migrating to new Server for ou NagiosXI, using Import Config Files and using the order as provided
Commands Time Periods Contact Templates Contacts Contact Groups Host Templates Hosts Host Groups Service Templates Services Service Groups

But we are having an issue to the configuration file.

Error: Service has no hosts and/or service_description (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/services/S_Asurion_Linux_NTP_NRPE.cfg', starting on line 16)

Check your configuration file(s) to ensure that they contain valid
directives and data definitions. If you are upgrading from a previous
version of Nagios, you should be aware that some variables/definitions
may have been removed or modified in this version. Make sure to read
the HTML documentation regarding the config files, as well as the
'Whats New' section to find out what has changed.

Hi @elealyngarcia,

There's an error with one of the configurations.
Error: Service has no hosts and/or service_description (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/services/S_Asurion_Linux_NTP_NRPE.cfg', starting on line 1
Go to to Configure > CCM > Monitoring > Services and find the service. You can search for S_Asurion_Linux_NTP_NRPE in the text box in the upper right side of the screen,

Once you find the service, make sure there is a host defined along with a service description. Then go to Tools > Config File Management and perform the following steps:

1. Delete Files
2. Write Files
3. Verify Files Does it pass verification? If so go to step 4. If not, try to correct the error based on the message and then repeat steps 1 and 2.
4. Restart Nagios Core

Let me know if you're able to get it corrected.

Hi,

I'm able to resolve most of the error and follow the Config File Management. I did notice that most of the templates lost most of the configuration, and have a _empty_host and _multiple_host configuration.

Hi @elealyngarcia,

Good to hear, it sounds like you got it fixed. Did you have any other questions or shall we close this thread?
