Dear Team ,
If we talk about nagios log server . Then one instance of nagios log server can monitor how many hosts logs . Such that it is not affecting Nagios log server performance .
On doing google found this attachment . Is it correct .

Re: how many hosts nagios log server can monitor
There are a lot of variables at play(how large are the logs, what are the specs of the NLS machine, will there be a lot of users making queries and dashboards, etc...) and I would encourage installing a trial of NLS to get an idea of requirements that may be needed for your environment.
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... hrough.pdf may also prove useful for you. It includes specs of machines in a cluster receiving 500GB of logs a day.
Once the trial is set up, I would recommend monitoring the disk space usage as well as the heap memory usage with Nagios XI - https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/n ... i-857.html.

Re: how many hosts nagios log server can monitor
Thanks for your prompt resposne .
But Trial version only has 500 MB data per day limit only . Then how we gonna check.
My requirements are -
1. 250 windows servers, 100 server ESX, 20 to 50 load balancer, and 30 Linux servers and few physical as well as critical servers.
2. How much bandwidth it requires . Location are separate, we have 40 locations, each location having approx 4 to 10 servers .
3. How much hard disk and RAM you suggest for above scenario . And does 1 instance of nagios log server is sufficient for above requirements .

Re: how many hosts nagios log server can monitor
The 500MB/day limit does not apply to the trial.
One NLS machine may be able to do this. I would start with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of drive space.
Again though I would encourage setting this up with a few hosts to get a better idea of the needs - are the Windows machines sending 500MB of logs a day or 5GB day? Are you running complex queries or filters to create the dashboards you want?

Re: how many hosts nagios log server can monitor
Hello Team ,
Yes one instance can do it.
But, from redundancy/failover purpose can we do cluster on log servers and propose 2 instance to customer ?
This is because customer will ask why to purchase another instance .After all what will be the benefit in purchasing one extra instance .
Kindly elaborate the meaning of cluster in terms of nagios log server here . And how it will work .

Yes, having multiple NLS instances will offer redundancy to the data. I'd recommend checking out this excellent presentation NLS on architecture to get a better idea of how a cluster offers redundancy: https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/n ... 5-404.html
