flapping configuration

Post by jwu »

I have a host setup and am receiving multiple alerts on fluctuate in usage of memory,
is there a way for me to configure where I only see when the CPU usage is only critical for a period of time?
I do have flapping setup, but we still get the warning/critical emails before that kicks in.

You could push out the first notification, but beyond that I would recommend pushing your warning/critical thresholds further out if you are on the edge of the current usage. Unless you do this you won't solve the rapid state change problem you are facing.

Yep, as Sam mentioned, the proper way to deal with this is to increase your thresholds or your check_intervals.
