Hey all. Apologies if this is answered elsewhere. Did some scouring, but couldn't find what I was looking for.
In our network, we alarm interfaces on both bandwidth and status (amongst other things that aren't relevant). For ease of use, we've taken to using the Network switch/router wizard for both the initial creation of the host, as well as using it again to add new interfaces. What interfaces we use, and even line cards in our chassis routers/switches, changes often, so this is very helpful.
The problem we run into is that, when we re-run the wizard on hosts that already exist, the wizard removes any templates that were applied to the host. The main reason we use the templates is to assign free variables that tell our paging system which group to send the alarm to. So if that template gets wiped, we are no longer paged on alarms for that host.
We've tried just copying the Status/Bandwidth alarming, and changing the OIDs to match the new interface, but there's 2 issues we run into with this. One is that it is a bit more tedious, and the second is that the .rrd file is not created for bandwidth monitoring.
Is there a tweak or some option that can disable the remove template behavior of the wizard? Otherwise, we're definitely open to suggestions on alternatives as well.
Thanks!

Network switch/router wizard removes host template
Re: Network switch/router wizard removes host template
There was a bug that would cause that issue that was fixed in version 2.3.8 of the Network Switch / Router wizard.
To upgrade to the latest wizard, go to the Admin > Manage Config Wizards menu, check for updates and install the latest version of that wizard.
Try that and let us know if the issue still exists.
