This can happen on some systems due to permissions issues.
Can I have you run the manual upgrade following the procedure in this document

I am having a similar issue. I ended up doing a manual update at the console, and that completed successfully. However, the GUI still shows that an update is in progress. Is there a way to clear that message out and validate that it has been updated?
# grep xiver /usr/local/nagiosxi/var/xi-sys.cfg
xiver='5.6.7'

You should be able to click the "Go back" button on that page

What "Go Back" button are you mentioning? I assume you are not talking the browser back button, nor is there one on the page.
