Applying configuration fails after running the configuration wizard to add a Cisco switch for monitoring. It says configuration verification failed. I rebooted the Nagios XI server and now the monitoring engine won't start. I see in the core configuration my new switch is listed in the hosts. Not sure why the configuration won't verify or why the monitor won't start.
When I check configuration files it appears Nagios doesn't like some of the characters used in the port descriptions.
That seemed to be it. Nagios must not like * in the port description.

Re: Can't apply configuration
Were you able to remedy the situation? Lets run through the write configs tool:
Configuration > CCM > Tools > Write Config Tool.
Click through each other the buttons from top to bottom, and paste the output from each in a reply here. You should not reboot the server if you see a configuration issue as that will most likely halt the engine, you need to make sure to change your configuration files so that they can be passed through by Nagios. The "*" will most likely be a problem as it is a incorrect character 'wildcard.' But that may not be the only problem with the configuration.
