/usr/local/nagiosxi/var/xi-itype: No such file or directory error

This error is caused when upgrading to Nagios XI 2024R1.2.2.

The error occurs when the XI upgrade cannot find the /usr/local/nagiosxi/var/xi-itype file. This file may have been deleted when an admin removed the contents of /usr/local/nagiosxi/var, to try to free up disk space, since most of the log files are stored in this directory.

To remedy this and allow the upgrade to continue, run the following command (as root). There is a space between the quotes in this command:

echo " " > /usr/local/nagiosxi/var/xi-itype

Then run the upgrade.

Nagios is also treating this issue as a bug and will try to address it in future releases. Please monitor our changelog for updates:
